Nevada athletics postponed by weather
The Nevada Lady Tigers and Tigers freshman basketball teams were scheduled to take back to the road Monday evening, for a doubleheader at Pleasant Hill High School, but Nevada High School athletic director and Tigers head varsity basketball coach John McNeley said those two games -- along with a few other events in which Nevada teams were supposed to participate Monday -- have been postponed, due to the cancellation of classes.
Also postponed Monday were the Nevada Middle School's seventh- and eighth-grade girls' basketball teams games in the Tri-County Conference Tournament. Those games have been rescheduled for Wednesday -- the seventh graders at Webb City and the eighth graders at McDonald County Middle School, in Anderson, Mo.
Nevada Middle School assistant principal and athletic director Chris Holcomb said the seventh- and eighth-grade wrestling quadrangular, also scheduled for Monday, at Nevada, between Nevada, Adrian, Webb City and Butler has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
Next on the schedule for the Nevada High School freshman basketball squads is Tuesday, when they are scheduled to head back out on the road to take on Carl Junction. The first of two games on Tuesday's schedule is set to tip off at 5 p.m., at Carl Junction High School. The middle school wrestling squad is scheduled to be back in action at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, as well, heading back out on the road to take on Joplin South.
