Nevada council to consider water, sewer increases

The Nevada City Council will hold two public hearings and consider two ordinances to adjust the city's water and sewer service charges annually during its meeting Tuesday, at 7 p,m, in the council chambers in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St, The minimum adjustment will be based on the Consumer Price Index.
Other items on the agenda include a work order for Williams Spurgeon Kuhl & Freshnock Architects Inc., to conduct a feasibility study of the two-story brick building at 314 W. Cherry St., for possible reuse of the building in conjunction with the relocation of the fire department and an amendment of the 2013 city budget.
The council will also be considering the re-appointment of Ray Dean Scism and John Haggans to the street and infrastructure board and presenting a Volunteer Service Award to Taylor Strope.
Other items under consideration include: the second and final reading of an ordinance approving a lease agreement with E-Z-Go division of Textron Inc., for 30 golf cars and two utility vehicles to the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course; the second reading of the city's 2014 municipal budget, and five-year capital improvement budget the second reading of an ordinance approving the sale of a 20-foot wide strip of property to the neighboring property owner, so he can build a house on his property; and the final reading of the city's contract with Alliance Water Resources to operate the city's water and sewer system in 2014. The agreement sets the monthly fee at $126,566.67, or about $1.52 million for 2014. The agreement also sets the repair limit at $75,000 and the chemical limit at $82,200.
The council will also be considering the second readings of two ordinance for hay leases oat Marmaduke Park and the old landfill, as well as ordinances for pasture land at the wastewater treatment plant and crop land at the old landfill.
