Area sports postponed by weather
Thanks to another winter storm sweeping across the area over the weekend, a number of Vernon County sporting events have been postponed.
The Nevada Tigers and Lady Tigers basketball teams were the first to feel the sting of the latest batch of winter weather, as they were both scheduled to be in action Monday night. Both squads were scheduled to be on the road, with the Tigers taking on Butler and the Lady Tigers heading to Monett, but both of those contests were called off and no make-up date has been announced, as of Monday evening.
Also on the list of cancellations was a basketball doubleheader between Northeast Vernon County and Montrose. Those contests were scheduled to be played Tuesday night, in Montrose, but were also postponed indefinitely.
Next on the schedule for Nevada's boys is a make-up contest from mid-December against Warrensburg. The first contest on the schedule in that JV/varsity doubleheader is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Nevada High School.
The Lady Tigers, on the other hand, are scheduled to be off until Friday, when they head back out on the road to take on Butler. The first of two contests on the schedule that night is set to tip off at 6 p.m., at Butler High School.
For NEVC, the next scheduled outing is next Tuesday, when head coach Jeremy Barger's squads head back out on the road to take on Humansville. The first contest on the schedule that night is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m., at Humansville High School.
