Nine file for open seats in Vernon County

With the Jan. 21 deadline to file for a seat on town boards of aldermen and school boards throughout Vernon County rapidly approaching, some candidates have committed themselves to community service.
The Bronaugh School District attracted the most candidates, Korey Yount, Saundra Bogart, Bret Banes and Chris Haynes, while no one has filed for the two seats up for election on the town's board of aldermen.
In Sheldon, Cheryl Bogart filed for an open seat on the board of aldermen and Marlene Moran filed for the school board, but several seats are still open.
No one has filed in Walker despite an opening for mayor, sheriff and two aldermen seats.
In Schell City, Vicki McKinney and Quentin Goodman filed for the board of aldermen.
Robert Fox Jr. filed for an open seat on the Northeasat Vernon County School Board, though two seats are still open.
General municipal election day will be April 8. The last day to register to vote is March 12.
