Nevada JV boys fall to Center
The Nevada High School junior varsity boys' basketball team got back into action Thursday night and much like their varsity counterparts, the Tigers found themselves outsized and outclassed athletically, ultimately leading to a very one-sided defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Center Yellowjackets.
Unlike the varsity contest, however, it was apparent in the JV game who would come out on top, right from the start. Center opened the night with a 13-5 first quarter and never let up, from that point on.
In the first half of Thursday's contest, the Nevada defense simply couldn't do much of anything with the Yellowjackets' obvious speed and athleticism advantage. That, along with a number of ball control issues for Nevada gave the visitors a 32-12 lead, heading into the locker room at halftime.
The Tigers' defense did a much better job in the second half of making Center work for its points and even cut into the lead on a number of occasions, but the Yellowjackets never let up and ultimately went on to take the victory by a final score of 58-14.
