WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Warrensburg's Lady Tigers took command during the third quarter on the way to a 48-38 victory over the Nevada Lady Tigers Wednesday night, at Warrensburg High School.

"It was a hard fought game, but we just had trouble scoring in the second half," Lady Tigers head coach Brent Bartlett said. "We have to put four complete quarters together and have others step up to be successful."

Bartlett's squad appeared to be on its way to a win in the first half, holding seven-points leads twice before Warrensburg cut the margin to one at the half, 21-20. Warrensburg took the lead for good early in the third quarter and led, 34-30, after three quarters before out-scoring Nevada, 14-8, over the final 8 minutes.

Freshman Hally Piontek led Warrensburg's balanced offense with 12 points while Jessica Tiller and Maddie Rhone added 10 apiece. Nevada freshman Chloe Bartlett led all scorers with 20 points -- the first double-digit game in her high school career.

"Chloe had a tremendous game and really stepped up," Bartlett said.

Nevada's loss was its second straight and the Lady Tigers are 6-6 on the season, while Warrensburg is 9-3. Nevada did win the junior-varsity game, 48-30.

After a day off Thursday, the Lady Tigers are scheduled to host Webb City Friday night, inside Wynn Gymnasium at Nevada High School. Tipoff in the first of the night's three games is set for 4:30 p.m.
