Joe Leslie Scotten
Joe Leslie Scotten, 73, of Nevada, Mo., the son of Robert Lee and Velma Nadine (Price) Scotten was born Feb. 18, 1940, in St. Clair County, Mo., and passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Moore-Few Care Center, in Nevada.
Joe was raised and attended school in the Schell City and Walker area of Vernon County. After school, he lived for a time in the Kansas City, Mo., area where he worked for Winchester Construction as a concrete mason. After he relocated back to this area, he worked as a farm hand for Cressup Ranch, Floyd Phillips, CB&K, David Loyd and C.D. Scotten, among others. Joe was always willing to help others, whatever their need. In his spare time, he always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two brothers, Bobby Scotten, of Harwood, Mo., and Dwight Scotten and Sharon, of Nevada; two sisters, Mary Sanderson and Ray, of Bossier City, La., and Deanne Brown, of Spring Hill, Kan.; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., today, at the Green Mound Cemetery, in Harwood, Mo., with the Rev. Robert Fox Jr. officiating. Pallbearers are LaVerne Scotten, C.D. Scotten, Dick Scotten, Billy Dean Scotten, David Loyd, Orval Moore, Bub Fox, Dale Stark, Alvie Burrus, and Richard Myers. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Arrangements for Mr. Scotten were entrusted to the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.
