Cottey fine arts faculty recital Sunday
Members of Cottey's Fine Arts faculty will present a recital titled "Grazie" Sunday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. A reception will follow.
The event will feature displays of visual arts as well as performances of music, dance and theatre by Cottey faculty members to express appreciation for support of the new fine arts instructional building. Over $9 million has been raised in a five-year campaign that ends Jan. 31.
Donations will continue to be accepted. Ceramics, painting, and photographs will be displayed in the lobby. Solos, duets, trios and a quartet will perform.
Amanda Cook, assistant professor of music, and Matthew Herren, adjunct assistant professor of music, will perform Beethoven's "Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, op. 11" with Debbie Fast, Cottey's long-time accompanist. Theresa Spencer, professor of music, and Cook will perform a work by James Sclater on text by Emily Dickinson. Jo Byrnes, associate professor of dance, will perform to Elliot Carter's cello piece "Figment" played by Herren. Byrnes will also dance to a clarinet work by Libby Larsen played by Cook. Christi Fulton, adjunct professor of dance, will perform a tap solo to "Chopsticks." Gary Johnson, adjunct assistant professor of music, will perform a trombone solo. Dr. Rusalyn Andrews, professor of theatre, will perform a reading of Chinese folk tales. Bill Martin, adjunct assistant professor of music, will perform duets with Spencer and a song from the musical "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." There is no admission and no tickets are required.
