John David Denney
John David Denney, 60, Republic, Mo., passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at his home with family at his side. He was born June 1, 1953, in Clinton, Mo., the son of H.L. "Bud" and Suzanne (Johns) Denney. He grew up in Sheldon, Mo., and graduated from the Sheldon High School.
John was united in marriage to Diana Williams on July 31, 1981, and they had made their home in Republic since 1985.
John was a devout Christian man. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 570 AFAM in Republic and a 20 year retiree of the U.S. Medical Center of Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Mo., where he was the deputy director of nurses. John designed the dialysis unit and supervised the operation for several years. A former Republic alderman, he was currently serving as a Republic Planning and Zoning commissioner. As a young man, John earned the Eagle Scout badge and later became scout troop leader for the Boy Scout Troop No. 676 in Republic.
John is survived by his loving wife and companion of nearly 33 years, Diana, of the home; three sons and their spouses, Troy Denney and fiancé, Delphine Cottalorda, of Nevada, Travis and Gretchen Denney, of Sheldon, and Dustin and Janice Denney, of Springfield; a daughter, Ameé Bayless of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Larry Denney and wife, Sue, of Warsaw; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation 1-2 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Masonic Rites will be presented at the start of the service. Burial will follow in Lindsey Cemetery in Republic.
Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Lodge No. 570 in Republic.
