Reichard sisters qualify for state

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Nevada Lady Tigers swimmer Grace Reichard is qualified for next months state swimming championships in five events.

That accomplishment has become par for the course, for Reichard, as she qualified in seven events last year and in eight as a freshman and sophomore. Lady Tigers head swimming coach Amyl Bishop said Reichard "is extremely talented," both in the pool and in the classroom -- and is in the running for the Class Valedictorian honor this Spring.

She has received a scholarship offer from Ashland University -- an NCAA Division II college in Ohio -- that she says appears to be "a good fit."

The daughter of Erlinda and the late Daryl Reichard has been part of the Lady Tigers swimming program since transferring from California during her freshman year. Grace's older sister, Glory, is a senior swimmer at Missouri State and her younger sister, Melody, is a sophomore at NHS -- and the only other Lady Tiger qualified for the state championships, so far.

The state meet is Feb. 21-22, at the City Rec-Plex, in St. Peters, near St. Louis.
