"Rich Hill" directed by Tracy Droz Tragos and Andrew Droz Palermo won the Sundance Film Festival's U.S. Grand Jury Prize for documentary, which recognizes a documentary as the best from the American independent film community.

The film delves into the lives of three boys, Appachy, Harley and Andrew, who live in the rural town. The boys' families attended the premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Jan. 19.

Tragos said plans are in the works to have the film screened in Missouri, especially near Rich Hill.

"We have many hopes for the film," Tragos said. "Really at its heart, the film is an invitation to empathy. These kinds of families don't usually have their stories told unless it's in an exploitive or simplistic way. There isn't one thing that will fix everything. Things are a little more complicated. We want people to watch and lend support."
