Cottey College head volleyball coach Marla Kannady Foreman has announced the addition of one more name to the list of players she will have on next year's team with the signing of Katherine Brockus, Osceola. In high school, Brockus was a multi-sport athlete with six different team and league awards in volleyball alone. She was her squad's Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012, as well as the Hustle Award recipient in 2012 and 2013 and the Heart Award in 2013. She was also an All WEMO Conference honorable mention in 2012 and an All-WEMO Conference second-team selection in 2013, on top of earning All-District first-team honors and an All-Region honorable mention in 2013. She was also a 2013 team captain and played for the Springfield Stars club team in 2010 and 2011, and was part of two conference championship teams, four district championship teams and the 2012 team that took third place in the state tournament. Brockus will join the Comets in the fall of 2014, along with four players returning from last year's squad and two other freshman signees, Sydney Curnes, of Cassville, Mo., and Madelyn Underwood, of Columbus, Ohio.
