First day of filing brings 10 candidates

Vernon County Clerk Tammi Beach saw 10 candidates on the first day of county candidate filing for this August's primary election. Filing began at 8 a.m. Tuesday and will continue to run through 5 p.m. on March 25.
Four candidates have enlisted to vie for the circuit clerk position currently held by Vickie Erwin. Lisa Miller (Democrat), Carrie Poe (Democrat), Deb Anderson (Democrat) and Moria Randall (Republican) all filed for the position.
Two individuals filed for the County Clerk position currently filled by Tammi Beach, who will retire this year. Cindy Winters (Democrat) and Paula Messner (Democrat) will be listed on the ballot come August.
Several incumbents filed for re-election to their current positions. Doug Shupe (Republican) filed for Recorder of Deeds and Bonnie McCord (Democrat) filed for Presiding County Commissioner. Within the courts system, Neal Quitno (Democrat) filed for Associate Circuit Judge, and Lynn Ewing III (Democrat) filed for his current position as Prosecuting Attorney.
Vernon County voters will have the opportunity to cast their votes at the Aug. 5 primary election.
