District basketball tournament schedule amended

CARL JUNCTION -- Due to the winter storm that moved through the region over the weekend, Carl Junction High School officials were forced to make some changes to the schedules for the Class 4, District 12 boys' and girls basketball tournaments, which were to start Monday, at Carl Junction High School.

Since none of the schools involved in the tournament were in session, Monday's girls' first-round games between Carl Junction and Carthage, and the Nevada Lady Tigers and Monett were postponed to Tuesday. All four first-round games -- two girls' games and two games in the boys' tournament -- are now scheduled to be played Tuesday.

The revised schedule -- which has been posted on the Carl Junction School District's website, as well as mshsaa.org -- has the Carl Junction-Carthage girls' game set to start at 4 p.m., with the Nevada Lady Tigers taking on the Lady Cubs of Monett about 90 minutes later. The Monett-Webb City boys' game should start about 7 p.m., followed by the Nevada Tigers taking on Carthage in a boys' game, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

All four semifinal games are scheduled to be played on Thursday, with the finals set for Saturday.
