Fellow citizens deserving of community service awards

Saturday, March 8, 2014

The Pacesetter awards for community involvement and for large and small businesses and agriculture - these are all designations and honors bestowed at the Chamber of Commerce banquet.

Corey Johnson, Mary Mitchell, Con-Way Trucking, the Farmers' Market, and 54 Feed and Seed were all honored.

An award was also given to outgoing Chamber Board President Dr. Ron Schowengerdt, who will continue serving the chamber as its board vice president.

The recognition for these businesses, their leaders and our chamber leadership is well deserved.

The chamber and the community laud the efforts of these people who have contributed so much.

It's an opportunity to celebrate our community and toast our fellow neighbors and co-workers who come forward and are recognized for their years of hard work and dedication to their community.

Recipients express gratitude to their customers, their employees and to their community. During the thank-yous and the heartfelt appreciation for the award, there will be common themes of commitment, unselfishness, dedication and cheerful attitude.

The award presenters and the award recipients reinforce these themes.

"Give back" and "make a difference" all characterize these deserving people who add so much to our community and our quality of life.

We join with our fellow chamber members and organizations in recognizing and honoring their efforts for all our betterment.

These people serve as a living example of what we can all strive to be. We congratulate and salute you.

We appreciate the opportunity to join you during these celebrations and in sharing our belief in working to improve our communities and our quality of life.
