I Have Found Winter!
Hi neighbors.
About the time Spring finally found Nevada, I visited Iowa and found winter still there! I complain a lot about the cold and snow and ice, so most people would think I would have sense enough to not venture north on the cusp of spring. But I got time off from work and decided I would go visit my daughter and her family in Des Moines.
The first night the wind was gusting at around 50 miles per hour--enough to blow the car door shut when you tried to get out. I know from personal experience. The actual temperature was a balmy 23.
COLD!
The next morning we awoke to snow -- and cold.
On the way to take my granddaughter to school, we saw four vehicles in the meridian. Lucky for us, that snow was melted by time to go pick her up again. No sooner had the snow left us, than the wind picked up again.
The next morning it wasn't snowing when we left, but it was a little when we returned from taking her to school.
I have told my daughter she must move to Missouri or even further south!
The visit is going well of course -- it always does. It is very difficult, as many of you know, to have children who live a day's drive away. At least we get to visit fairly often, but not often enough.
My other child lives in Nevada, less than five minutes away. So I get to see them once a week or sometimes a little more often.
I don't know what the weather has been like in Nevada, but I hope it is nice and warm with no snow and no wind by the end of the week.
This one will have to be pretty short, as I am literally on borrowed time with this computer. I promise a full report next week. Stay warm, all, and hold a kind thought for all of our northern neighbors.
It has been a long winter here in Des Moines and it's not finished yet!
