Charges have been filed for a Nevada man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in February.
Christopher Alan Hoover, 52, faces charges of second-degree domestic assault, kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, first-degree rape or attempted rape, unlawful possession of a firearm and two charges of armed criminal action.
Charges stem from a reported domestic abuse incident that occurred on Valentine's Day.
According to a probable cause statement, the alleged victim approached deputies March 17 to report a forcible rape incident. She said the incident occurred in mid-February at Hoover's home when he became upset about her setting a drinking glass down too hard.
The woman said she was dragged through the house by her hair, threatened with a knife and physically assaulted multiple times. In the probable cause statement, the victim alleged Hoover made threats against her life, and that she was forced to perform sexual acts at gunpoint.
She told deputies she was then confined within the home for an unknown period of time before being allowed to leave.
An ex parte order was served to Hoover on March 11, requiring him to cease contact with the victim.
The victim said she initially did not report the rape, but was encouraged to do so by her significant other.
Sheriff Jason Mosher said Hoover was previously brought in to the Sheriff's Office for questioning, but was released due to lack of evidence at the time.
A search warrant at Hoover's home provided deputies with evidence that led to charges being filed.
A warrant for Hoover's arrest was issued last week. He was arrested in Newton County and transported to Vernon County, where he was booked Wednesday. Hoover was being held on a $100,000 bond.
According to Missouri court records and the probable cause statement, Hoover has prior assault charges from 2006, when he was convicted of second-degree assault.
