Nevada City Council meets tonight

Nevada Mayor Seth Barrett will present the 2013 Revitalization Award to Kathy and Sonny Butler, owners of Rinehart Jewelry, during tonight's city council meeting, for their renovation of a building at 120 S. Cedar Street.
Other items on the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting in the council chambers, in the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St., include a resolution approving a liquor license for the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course, and the first and second readings of an emergency ordinance selecting the bid and awarding the contract for the relocation of a water line at Cottey College.
The council will also consider the first reading of an ordinance opting out of the state's Back to School Sales Tax Holiday, and two ordinances concerning insurance requirements for electrical, and plumbing and mechanical contractors.
Other items of new business include ordinances updating the city's business license regulations: one removing occupations the city is not authorized to license and a second ordinance repealing the license fee requirement for trailer and mobile home parks, and an ordinance amending the 2014 street, water and sewer fund budgets.
The council will also be holding the second reading of an ordinance updating the city's regulations on the sale of alcohol close to churches, schools, parks, etc.
Other items include the appointment of Janet Wray to the library board and consideration of bids for asphalt for summer street projects, a skid steer and a backhoe for the public works department.
