A 29-year-old Nevada man involved in two separate incidents on the same day has been taken into custody on several felony warrants.
According to the Nevada Police Department, Jacob L. Cole was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of first-degree burglary, third-degree domestic assault, third-degree assault and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
Nevada Police were initially dispatched to a disturbance in the 1200 block of North Elm in early morning hours. Officers determined a male suspect allegedly forced his way into an apartment, where he pushed and punched two people before fleeing the scene.
Police began a search for the attacker, only to find him at the scene of another incident that afternoon.
Around 2:40 p.m., officers found Cole and several other individuals fighting near Atlantic and North Clay. One individual was reportedly armed with a hammer during the incident.
Officers stopped the fight and took Cole and a second individual into custody. The unnamed individual was later released pending further investigation.
Cole was held at the Vernon County Jail on a $16,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on May 22 for a pre-trial conference.
According to Missouri court records, Cole has previously been charged with several related crimes, including third-degree assault in 2008, receiving stolen property in 2009 and second-degree burglary in 2010. He was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections in 2010 for six counts of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
