Nevada track fares well at district meet

CARL JUNCTION -- Carl Junction and Bolivar won the team titles Saturday in the Class 3, District 6 track and field meet, at Carl Junction High School.

The Bulldogs finished atop the boys' team standings with 147 points, Reeds Spring was a distant second with 71.5 and the Nevada Tigers were third with 59 in the 16-school field. Bolivar's Lady Liberators won the girls' team title with 109 points, Springfield Catholic was second with 90 and the Nevada Lady Tigers finished fifth with 71.

Those finishing in the top four in the individual events earned trips to next week's Sectional meet.

Nevada senior Justin Marley won district individual championships in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events, while Chaden Brandt was second in the 100-meter dash and Connor West was fourth in the triple jump. The Tigers' 4x100-meter relay team of Brandt, Chance Mays, Austin Deer and Ryan Ferris and the 4x200-meter relay team of Brandt, Deer, Ferris and Michael Brown each finished third.

On the girls' side, junior Brooklynn Vincent won the district championship in the discus and was second in the shot put, sophomore Reagan Bradley was second in the both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Megan Hold placed fourth in the long jump and the Lady Tigers' 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams, which both consisted of Chloe Bartlett, Bradley, Kelsey McCall and Carsten Warner, finished third and fourth, respectively.

The Sectional meet is scheduled for this Saturday, at Eldon, Mo. The day's events are set to begin at 11 a.m.
