Bates County searches area for missing suspect

The Bates County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who fled from mental health professionals in Nevada.

Sheriff Chad Anderson said Thursday that his office is looking for any information that could lead to the whereabouts of Blake Leister.

Early Tuesday, 30-year-old Leister, of Amsterdam, Mo., appeared in the Bates County Circuit Court on possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon charges.

In court, he received a bond modification order on the condition he enter a mental health program in Nevada. Leister was then released to The People's Network staff, which transported him to Nevada. Anderson said Leister exited the vehicle and ran off.

The Bates County Circuit Court has issued a warrant for Leister's arrest, with a cash-only bond set at $2,500.

Anderson described Leister as a Caucasian male, around 6 foot 1 inch tall and 195 pounds. He has blue eyes and short, brown hair. Leister has the word "loyalty" tattooed on his left forearm.
