Weekend fire at Pathways under investigation

A weekend fire has temporarily displaced services available at Pathways Community Health's Nevada office. Individuals arriving at the facility Monday were turned away by staff members and referred to locations in Butler and El Dorado Springs.
Nevada Fire Lieutenant Troy Denney said in a press release Monday that firefighters responded to a structure fire at Pathways around 2 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke throughout the building and few flames. Firefighters at the scene worked to remove the smoke and evaluate damage to the building. Denney said damage was estimated at $45,000, including destruction to the building's interior and items inside.
On Monday afternoon, Pathways staff were airing out the building, which smelled heavily of smoke, and removing necessary items.
Office manager Starr Marsh said staff were working to see clients whenever possible at the El Dorado Springs and Butler Pathways locations. Clients needing assistance are encouraged to contact the Butler or El Dorado Springs facilities.
"Our priority is to keep providing services for everybody," Marsh said.
Rhonda Meyer, vice president of administrative services, said she was unsure of when the Nevada facility would reopen.
No cause of the fire has yet been determined. The incident is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshall, Nevada Police and Nevada Fire Departments.
