Little league football registration just around the corner

Friday, August 15, 2014

Nevada Little League Football registration and equipment checkout for fifth and sixth-graders is set for 9 -10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at Twin Lakes City Municipal Golf Course. Registration for third and fourth-graders will be from 10-11 a.m. at the same location.

The participation fee is $90 per player and will cover a full set of football equipment, excluding shoes. According to NLLF President Jody Norcross, $25 worth of raffle tickets are distributed at the time of registration. If sold, that money is retained, reducing the league fee to $65.

Each participant will need to complete a physical prior to participating in a team practice. Norcross said the league does not have one standard physical form they use.

Dr. Jason Miesenhiemer of the Nevada Chiropractic Clinic will be on hand from 8-11 a.m. during the registration to conduct physicals, at reduced rate.

Player practices will begin Monday, Aug. 25. Games will begin Saturday, Sept. 13. Norcross said teams will likely play six or seven games, with the season ending Nov. 1 "at the latest."

Norcross said that there is a possibility that one team from each age group will travel to Galena, Kan. for a game, which would take place the second weekend of October. All other teams in the league will play Galena in Nevada.

Any additional information relating to the league will be made available at the Nevada Middle School and Truman Elementary School open houses, which take place Aug. 18.
