Council considers waiving rules for hunting program

Among other items on its agenda the Nevada City Council will be considering a resolution that will waive sections of the city that prohibit the discharge of firearms and dogs running at large to allow the National Wild Turkey Federation Youth event to be held at the Vernon County Fair Grounds in September, during its meeting tonight at 7 in the council chambers of the Public Safety Building, 120 S. Ash St.
Other items under consideration include the first reading of an agreement for a drainage easement at 620 S. Olive St., an agreement with the Vernon County Commission for the county to handle Nevada's real estate and personal property tax billing and collection, and an ordinance accepting a grinder pump easement from Ranza Inc., 2505 E. Austin Boulevard.
The council will also be holding the second reading of an ordinance reenacting the city's conflict of interest and financial disclosure regulations; an agreement with Trout, Beeman & Co. P.C. Public Accountants to conduct the city's annual audit for 2014.
Other items include the second reading of an ordinance releasing the NID assessments on lot 13 of Ashland Estates, the second reading of an ordinance setting the city's 2014 property tax levies, the re-appointment of Bob Beaver to the Board of Adjustment, and the consideration of bids for UV lamps and components for the UV disinfection system at the wastewater treatment plant.
