A smorgasbord of September celebrations, holidays (with insightful commentary)
Hi neighbors.
September is upon us and, boy, is it loaded with celebrations and weird holidays. Here are most of them.
Starting with the 6th, is one of my favorite days, National Writing Date Day. Try your hand at writing!
The 7th lists Grandma Moses Day, Grandparent's Day (another one of my personal favorites!), National Attention Deficit Disorder Awareness Day, "Neither Snow nor Rain" Day (say thanks to your mail delivery person), Pet Rock Day (do you remember when this started?), Salami Day, and International Literacy Day.
The 8th gives us Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day, World Physical Therapy Day, and National Boss/Employee Exchange Day, (that should be interesting!). Don't forget Creative Writers Meeting Day!
The 9th stands alone with Wonderful Weirdoes Day, but we all know a few of those.
The 10th only has two holidays but they are good ones! Swap Ideas Day and (World) Suicide Prevention Day.
Sept. 11 has a couple of good memory days: Odd Day and Libraries Remember Day. We are all more familiar with patriotic themes for the infamous 9/11. National Day of Service and Remembrance, Patriot Day, and Remember Freedom Day. (never forget!)
Moving to the 12th we have: Banana Day, Stand Up To Cancer Day, the ever popular Video Games Day, Farmers' Consumer Awareness Day, International Drive Your Studebaker Day (hey if you got it, drive it), and one of my favorites -- International Chocolate Day.
The 13th is fun with Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day, National Hollerin' Day, National Iguana Awareness Day, National Peanut Day, and Prairie Day.
The 14th has some cool ones: Miss America Pageant, National Hug Your Hound Day, National Kreme Filled Donut Day, and National Pet Memorial Day.
You have to love the 15th with: 8-Track Tape Day, Felt Hat Day, International Day of Democracy and International Dot Day.
The 16th has Get Ready Day, International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, Mayflower Day, National Guacamole Day, Stepfamily Day and Trail of Tears Commemoration Day.
The 17th has Citizenship Day (if you got it, flaunt it), Constitution Day, International Country Music Day, National Rehabilitation Day, School Backpack Awareness Day, Time's Up Day and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Day.
The 18th offers Air Force Birthday, Chiropractic Founders Day, Hug A Greeting Card Writer Day, National Cheeseburger Day, National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day, National Respect Day and World Water Monitoring Day.
On the 19th you can celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day, Clean Up The World Weekend (kids can start with their rooms), National POW/MIA Recognition Day and National Tradesmen Day.
The last day I'll tell you about is the 20th which has AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day, Big Whopper Liar Day, Boys' and Girls' Club Day for Kids, International Eat An Apple Day, International Coastal Cleanup Day, National Gymnastics Day, National Seat Check Saturday and Puppy Mill Awareness Day.
There is lots to celebrate! Make them all family days!
