The Nevada Tigers eighth-grade A football team, was shellacked by the Carl Junction Bulldogs, 50-16, Thursday at Logan Field.

The Tigers were unable to contain Carl Junction tailback Ray Weston, who ran wild, scoring six touchdowns on the day.

On Nevada's opening drive of the game, quarterback Gabe Barnes turned the ball over on a fumble deep in Tiger territory.

The Bulldogs struck quickly, needing only one play as Weston rushed for a 21-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion run by Blake Thomas put Carl Junction up 8-0.

On the Tigers following drive, Joe Kennedy blocked a punt by Nevada's Caleb Longobardi, recovering the ball at the 20-yard line.

On fourth-and-14, from the Nevada 24-yard line, Weston swept left, breaking tackles on his way to the end zone, putting the Bulldogs up 14-0 with 4:17 remaining in the first quarter.

Later in the first quarter, Carl Junction capped off a scoring drive when Spencer King found his way into the end zone from 1-yard out. The successful two-point conversion by Weston made the score 22-0.

Nevada produced their longest play of the first half when running back Kayden Ast took a hand off and went 39 yards.

Later in the quarter, a fumble on a hand off, again turned the ball over to Carl Junction.

Still in the second quarter, Carl Junction had an 80-yard touchdown run by Kennedy called back due to an illegal block. The Bulldogs would eventually move the ball down field, scoring on a 15-yard Weston touchdown run, increasing their lead to 30-0.

Weston would add to his touchdown total before half time, sweeping right for a 21-yard score.

The Bulldogs led 36-0 at the break.

Weston opened up the second half with a 67-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Conner Poe would later put Nevada on the board with a 61-yard touchdown run. Ast converted the two-point conversion, but Carl Junction still led 44-8.

On the ensuing kickoff, Weston cradled the ball, and this time went 71-yards virtually untouched for the score.

"They did some good things," Nevada head varsity football coach Erik Yoakam said. "They're a group of kids that are trying to get there. And they will continue to work."
