Back on track: Tiger volleyball breezes by Clinton
After suffering two consecutive losses, the Nevada Tigers got back to their winning ways Thursday, defeating Clinton on the road, 25-15 and 25-18.
With the victory, Nevada moves to 14-8 on the season.
"Tonight was a good change in pace for us," Tiger coach Ashley Thoreson said. "We have had a stressful week playing both El Dorado Springs and O'Hara and taking two losses."
With 12 kills, senior middle hitter Rilie Good led the way for Nevada. Fellow senior Morgan McNeley produced a team-high 15 assists to go along with three aces. And Lexie Overton logged 13 digs.
"Tonight we were able to relax a little and just play without so much pressure," Thoreson said. "We had much better ball control than we did the beginning of the week.
"And we were able to mix some things up with the line up, allowing most of the girls on our roster to get in and get some playing time.
Nevada's junior varsity team (13-4-1) dropped their first set 25-22, but were able to pull off the comback, taking an easy 25-10 second set, while encountering little trouble in the third, 25-18.
The Tigers freshmen team (8-6) steamrolled Clinton, 25-7 and 25-4.
"We play at Warrensburg Tuesday night for their Pink Out Night," Thoreson said. "And JV goes to Stockton this Saturday for their varsity tournament, because they had a team back out and asked us to bring our JV.
"I am excited to see how our JV can do against several competitive varsity teams in the area."
