Hume knocks off Miami

Hume boosted its record to 12-2, with a comeback victory over Miami.
The volleyball Hornets improved to 5-0 in the conference. But it took recovering from a 25-15 first-set loss to win the second 25-12 and the third 25-18.
"It was definitely not one of our best games," said Coach Delanya Thompson. "But the girls came from seven points behind to win the last game.
"I was glad that they didn't give up and finally played to their capabilities at the end."
Megan Sutcliffe collected 14 serving points, Emily Ward 13, and Madison Cannon nine. Ward put up 10 aces, with Sutcliffe chipping in with six and Cannon two.
Sutcliffe finished with six kills, Kelsie Wikoff four, and Brhett Mumma and Cannon three.
Hope Yarick handed out 12 assists and Ward four, while Mumma and Yarick each had a block.
The Hume junior varsity dispatched Miami 25-12 and 25-19.
Hannah Swickhamer put up 10 serving points, Kaiyah Kaiser eight, Brooke Best six, and Sam Reno five.
Swickhamer chipped in with eight aces, Kaiser six, Best and Reno four. Swickhamer also had two kills, with Best, Malia McFrederick, Karlee Metcalf and Chelsey Finley one.
Swickhamer had four assists and Reno two.
"This was our pinkout game," said Coach Thompson. "We had a great turnout and the girls played very well."
