The teenager charged with the shooting deaths of his grandparents gave conflicting versions of what happened, according to the probable cause statement released Tuesday.
Logan E. Ellison, 17, the grandson of Herman and Rosie Ellison, was arrested by the Vernon County Sheriff's Office during the course of an investigation into the suspected murder of the couple.
Logan Ellison is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of first-degree robbery.
He is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $2 million cash only bond.
Herman E. Ellison, 76, and Rosie E. Ellison 77, were found dead in their home near the Cedar County line. The bodies were discovered after sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call late Friday evening.
According to the probable cause statement, Logan Ellison told detectives at least twice that the shooting deaths were accidental. Upon further questioning, he reportedly admitted to intentionally shooting them.
According to the statement, Logan Ellison's father, Ricky Ellison, found his parents' bodies inside their rural eastern Vernon County home on Friday night.
Ricky Ellison had been unsuccessful in trying to contact his parents and went to their house to check on them. He found the lights off and the door locked, with no sign of forced entry. Inside, he found his father's body, in a recliner, with a black coat over his head and face. Ricky Ellison also found the body of his mother, laying face down in the doorway to a bedroom.
Investigators say Herman Ellison was shot at close range in the head and chest with two different guns, while Rosie Ellison was shot twice with a small caliber weapon.
According to the probable cause statement, after the shootings on Thursday night, Logan Ellison drove around and threw the spent shell casings out the window at three different locations.
He returned home on Friday morning, got clothes, went to school at El Dorado, and then went to the football game on Friday night, according to the statement.
