Householder places 53rd at State

Although she didn't achieve her goal of a top 15 finish at the Girls Class 1 State Golf Tournament, Nevada's Hannah Householder still finished out her high school golf career with three consecutive appearances at state.
In the first round of play in the state tournament at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield on Monday, Householder scored a 97, putting her in a tie for 54th place.
Nevada golf coach Brian Leonard said that, due to sloppy conditions, the entire field was forced to go with a shotgun start, instead of the normal tee time start.
"Hannah started on Hole No. 12 today," Leonard said. "She was struggling on the greens. She was hitting some good shots into the greens, but she was having difficulties getting used to the subtle breaks and the speed of the greens. It took her nine holes to get her first par of the day.
Leonard said that despite the conditions, Householder managed to get in 18 holes.
"It wasn't her best day, but she didn't give up," Leonard said. "She had several good holes, which included a birdie at No. 7. "But she also had several bad holes, or some big numbers, which caused her score to go higher than normal."
On Tuesday, Householder again fired a 97, finishing the tournament with an overall 194, which was good for 53rd place.
Mount Vernon's Ashley Childers finished atop the leader board, scoring an overall 145.
