NHS JV boys lose to Hickman

Nevada's junior varsity boys' basketball team dropped a 44-35 decision to Columbia Hickman in the Harrisonville tournament Monday night, then bounced back with a 45-41 victory over Grain Valley Tuesday, only to fall Wednesday night in their third game in three days by a 44-32 score to St. Joe Lafayette.

In the opener, a slow start hampered the Tigers as they scored just three points in the first quarter and seven in the second, before recovering for 14 points in the third and 11 in the fourth.Derek O'Dell put in 14 points to pace Nevada. Brett Mitchell contributed nine, Cody Leeker six, and Johnny Quitno, Michael Brown, and Myles McNeley two each.

Against Grain Valley, Nevada overcame a sluggish start of five points in the first quarter to get double-digit scoring in each of the remaining three quarters, with 14, 13, and 13.

O'Dell fired in 15 points, all in the second half. McNeley added 12, and Mitchell and Hinton added 9.
