Mark Allen Malcom
Mark Allen Malcom, 51, Tampa, Fla., passed away at his home on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, following a short illness. Mark was born on March 5, 1963, in Austin, Texas, to Donald Ray and Elaine (Bobbett) Malcom. He was united in marriage to Colleen Ann Glentz on July 19, 1997, in Fayetteville, N.C., and she survives of the home.
Mark was a graduate of Douglas High School, Box Elder, S.D., graduating in 1982. Following high school Mark attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, before enlisting in the Unites States Army. After a two year enlistment Mark returned to MU where he completed his degree and commissioned back into the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Mark also earned his masters degree at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. Mark served a total of 25 years in the United States Army as a Quartermaster and a Foreign Area Officer specializing in Eurasia retiring as a Major. Once he retired from the Army, he continued to work and travel abroad as a contractor.
Mark especially enjoyed travel, cars and motorcycles.
In addition to his wife, Colleen, and his parents, Mark is survived by his sister, Tami Bobbett, and her husband, Darren; and brothers, Larry Malcom and his wife, Betty, and Garry Malcom. Additionally, he had several nieces and nephews, Hillary Rose, Kimberlee Bryson, Jared, Ryan, Connor and Tyler Bobbett, and Ashley and Austin Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., today, at the funeral home, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL.
