Brandt lifts Tigers to win over Carl Junction

With his team trailing 36-30 going into the evenings final match, Nevada Tigers 170-pound wrestler Chaden Brandt pinned Carl Junction's Kitch Channel, tying the score 36-36. Nevada won on the second tie-breaker (5-1 via pins). The tiebreaker handed the Tigers a 37-36 victory.

In the night's first contest at Nevada High School, the Tigers dominated Parkview (Springfield), winning 46-18.

"We wrestled really well. We lost one match in 14 weight classes, so I can't complain too much," Nevada wrestling coach Devon White said of his team's performance.

White added that his team was in control the entire way against Parkview.

"We dictated what we were going to do and how we did it," he said. "I'm very proud of the kids and they way they wrestled. We took care of business."

The Tuesday night tri-meet was the Tigers final home match of the season.

With no seniors on the roster, the future appears to be bright for the NHS wrestling team.

"We've got a good junior class, and a good strong freshmen class coming in as well," White said. "With the combination of those two, we could do pretty well next year.

"Everybody should be back, including the addition of Trey Pritchett (out with knee injury)."
