Students from the Nevada Regional Technical Center Chapter of Missouri DECA, an international association of marketing students, joined more than 300 high school marketing students from Southwest Missouri at the annual District Career Development Conference Feb. 11, at MSSU in Joplin.

Thirty students received awards at the District level with 22 qualifying to compete at Missouri's State DECA Career Development Conference.

First place state qualifiers:

* Ben Sommer in Financial Consulting event.

* Elienor Pruitt, Taylor Remington and Isabel Serna in Advertising Campaign event.

* Carly Greer and Gabby Gire in Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan.

* Shadol Blanchard, Gwendolyn Broughton and Ezra Solidum in Creative Marketing Project.

* Michaela Brewer, Morgan McNeley and Myles McNeley in Buying and Merchandising Operations Research event

second place state qualifiers.

* Mitch Lamb and Brodrick Mason in Sports and Entertainment Team Decision Making.

* Dayton Miller, Hunter Johnson and Peyton Walker in Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research event.

* Regan Christie and Hunter Richmond in Sports and Entertainment Operations Research event.

* Myrissa Dunfield, Ryleigh Galimberto and Jacee Heckadon in Community Service Project.

Second place medalists:

* Maddie Mccaffree, Mikayla Mohrmann, Elena Rodriguez in Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan.

Third place medalists

* Mikena Padgett, Haley Toland, and Savannah Woody in Public Relations Project.

The Missouri State Career Development Conference is March 15-17, at Lake Ozark.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

DECA conferences are targeted, highly-focused learning experiences for students and advisors. DECA conferences bring members into the larger DECA community while providing unique opportunities to extend classroom learning.

Each of DECA's conferences connects with corporate professionals to engage students in learning industry-related trends and content. Martha Cubbage serves as the local DECA chapter advisor at NRTC.
