Don't take El Dorado Springs recyclables, get towns outside Nevada to do hauling, sorting of their recyclables
Dear Editor:
There has recently been two columns in the Daily Mail concerning the local recycling center and problems of help and cost of operative.
I would offer some ideas for the county commission to consider.
First, there is the case of El Dorado Springs bringing recyclables over to Nevada and the employees here have to sort the materials. Why should Vernon County employees, whether paid or voluntary, have to sort material from another county at the expense of Vernon County? It is well and good to receive the recyclable material, but insist they remain here and sort the material for the appropriate bins. Not at Vernon County's expense.
Then, there is the case of other cities in the county having recycling trailers and our employees having to go get them and bring them to Nevada and then return the trailers. They are Vernon County folks and help with county costs, but let someone from that or each town do some volunteering.
I am sure there are folks there with vehicles to pull the unit to Nevada. Stay with it until it is unloaded and the material appropriately sorted and put into bins and then return the unit back to its location. Let some outside folks do some of the volunteer work, to save local employees work and county expense.
