Rotary program provides flags for holidays
Nevada Daily Mail
The Nevada Rotary Club recently kicked off The Nevada Rotary Patriotic Project which will help homeowners who would like to display a U.S. flag at their residence on five federal holidays each year and not have to worry about putting it up and taking it down, or maintaining the flag. And at the same time supporting the programs the Nevada Rotary Club provides for the youth of the community.
Members of the Rotary Club will put a flag out and take it down on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day.
The club will buy, store and maintain the flag for homeowners.
For homeowners who subscribe to this program for $35 per year, Rotary will place a 15 inch long sleeve in the ground, 15 inches from the curb, edge of the road or from outside the mailbox, to hold the flag pole, and then paint a mark on the curb to mark the location of the sleeve.
Then, bright and early on each of the five holidays, Rotary members will come by and install the flag and then come back in the evening and remove the flag.
The proceeds from The Nevada Rotary Patriotic Project will help pay for programs such as:
* Scholarships.
* Dictionaries for all area third graders.
* 4-Way Speech Test.
* Bike Rodeo.
* Boy Zone.
* Girl's Empowerment.
* Boys State and Girls State.
* Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA).
* Parents as Teachers.
* Tee ball program.
* International Exchange students.
