Peggy Lou (Daugherty) Headley
Peggy Lou Headley, 87, of Republic, Mo., passed from this life Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Cox Health Systems South, in Springfield. She was born May 11, 1927, in Bronaugh, the daughter of Ralph (Hike) and Goldie Mae (Greene) Daugherty.
After attending school in Bronaugh, Peggy spent 29 years employed at F.W. Woolworth Company in Pittsburg, Kan. She worked at the Woolworth Luncheonette when it was first opened in 1961 and until its closing in 1990, when at the time she retired. She received numerous service awards and was known for her smiling face and locally famous "Peggy's Cheesecake."
Peggy loved her family and enjoyed staying connected with all of them. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting with friends and family on the telephone.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Campbell of Republic; sister, Marlene Thomson of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Kristi Wilson, Travis Campbell, Justin Campbell, Kimberly Wilkinson, Aaron Hurt and Jennifer Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Virginia Daugherty, Patsy Janes, Clesteele Boyd, and Sharon Earl; and four brothers, Ralph Daugherty, Boyd Daugherty, Donald Daugherty, and Larry Daugherty; and her niece, Wanda Hurt.
Funeral services for Peggy Lou Headley will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., just prior to the service also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, in Bronaugh, near the area where she grew up with family and friends.
