The Nevada Tigers golf team was victorious at home Thursday, defeating El Dorado Springs and Pleasant Hill. The match at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course, was the only scheduled home-event on the Tigers 2015 schedule.

Nevada tallied a team-score of 155, 16 strokes better than Pleasant Hill, while finishing on top of El Dorado Springs by 103 strokes. The Tigers are now 2-1 in match-play this season.

Matt Resnick/Daily Mail/ Nevada senior Andrew Quitno, watches as his put rolls in. After missing the entire season with a broken arm, Quitno returned Thursday, to fire a 3-over 39.

Nevada golf coach Brian Leonard, said he was pleased with his team's performance, as they navigated the back-nine, par 36.

"Double that and it's 310," Leonard said. "That's a very respectable 18-hole (team) score."

For Nevada, sophomore John Quitno tied with Pleasant Hill's Eric Brons for the low individual score, at 2-over 38. However, Quitno saw his outright win slip away, as he double-bogeyed the par-3, 18th hole.

Nevada's Andrew Quitno, who made his season debut after being shelved with a broken arm, finished at 3-over 39.

"I was very pleased with Andrew's performance," Leonard said. "He double-bogeyed his first hole (No. 10), and still finished at 3-over."

Also finishing at 3-over 39, were Nevada sophomores Jacob Hammontree and Patrick Ferry.

Leonard said that Ferry's round should serve as a confidence-booster going forward.

"He's been struggling to qualify (with mid-40s scores), so that 39 will help," Leonard said.
