The Nevada Neptunes Swim Team will be hosting a Swim Meet Invitational this weekend, June 27 and 28 at Walton Aquatic Center. The meet is open and the public is welcome to attend.

This Invitational meet will begin at 9 a.m. both days and will feature approximately 475 swimmers and their families from four states (Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas & Oklahoma). Swimmers range in age from 5 -- 18 and will be competing in both individual and relay events over the course of the meet.

The Neptunes are a competitive summer swim team and a member of the Tri-State Swim Conference; which actually includes all four states. The team competes against other swim teams from Branson, Carthage, Claremore, Okla., Joplin, Lamar, Monett, Parsons, Kan., Pittsburg, Kan., Siloam Springs, Ark., Springfield and Webb City.

Regular season practices are at the Walton Aquatic Center beginning in late May running through early August. Preseason practices begin in late April at the Osage Prairie YMCA. The coaches structure practices to improve technique and physical fitness. Swimmers receive iron-ons at every meet when they have improved their previous times.
