This summer the Terra McFarland the community center supervisor at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center decided to expand on the Super Heroes program it operates with St. Mary's preschool to offer a similar program open to the community to do random acts of kindness around the town.

Over the summer months the Community Heroes were in the Bushwhacker Days Parade, as well as paying visits to the Nevada Fire Department, Nevada Police Department, Vernon County Ambulance District and the Vernon County Sheriff's Department. They also visited the Nevada Animal Shelter with treats for the dogs and cats there an delivered "goody bags" for people adopting pets.

McFarland said that when she started the program she had a list of ideas, but instead they have been doing projects developed by the participants, which include not only children, but adults as well. Currently there are seven children and seven adults participating.

Thursday, the Community Heroes paid a visit to Moore-Few Nursing Home to play games with some of the residents.
