Nevada tennis tops Center at home

The Nevada Lady Tigers tennis team defeated K.C. Center at home Thursday night, 7-2. Earlier in the week, Nevada was tripped up on the road by Carthage, 5-4.

The Lady Tigers are 4-2 overall.

Against Center, at No. 1 singles, Megan Payne was ousted by Center's Allie Welch 8-5.

At No. 2 singles, Emma Cheaney handed Saunders Saffold an 8-4 defeat.

Checking in at No. 3 Nevada's Ellie Pruitt edged Cydney Slade, 9-7.

Nevada's No. 4 Erika Watanabe coasted to an 8-3 victory over Josefina Esparza.

For the Lady Tigers in the No. 5 spot, Sydnie Baker breezed to an 8-1 win over Kyra Woods.

Jaiden Cherry, Nevada's No. 6, dealt Java Martin an 8-4 loss.

In doubles, Nevada's top tandem of Payne and Cherry slipped past Welch and Saffold, 9-7.

Pruitt and Baker were edged by Slade and Esparza, 9-7, while the No. 3 team, Watanabe and Cherry bounced Woods and Martin, 8-1. Vs. Carthage

At No. 1 singles, Payne fell to Addie Kunard 8-2.

Nevada's No. 2, sophomore Cheaney, cruised to an 8-4 defeat of Kierra Lee.

Lady Tigers No. 3, Pruitt, was beaten by Samantha Hutchins, 8-4.

Nevada's No. 4 Watanabe, prevailed over Anna Brightwell, 9-7.

Baker at No. 5, dropped an 8-5 set to Carthage's Maddlyn Copp.

And Nevada's Cherry at No. 6, dispatched Molly Shannon, 8-1.

Doubles results

Nevada's top tandem of Payne and Cheaney, were toppled by Kunard and Hutchins, 8-3.

The Lady Tigers No. 2 duo of Pruitt and Baker, were bested 8-4 by the Carthage team of Lee and Brightwell.

Nevada's No. 3 team, Watanabe and Cherry, cruised to an 8-3 victory over Copps and Shannon.
