Nevada wins 13th straight volleyball match, advances to district semis

An easy two-set defeat of seventh-seeded Warsaw paved the way for the Nevada Lady Tigers to advance to the semifinals of the Class 3 District 11 volleyball tournament.
Nevada won the first set 25-7 and the second set 25-8.
The Tuesday night victory at Harrisonville High School was the Lady Tigers 13th in a row, as they improved to 22-10.
Nevada, the No. 2 seed, next matches up against No. 3 seed Warrensburg.
The match is set for 6 p.m., Thursday. If the Lady Tigers prevail, they move on to the championship match, as No. 1 seed Pleasant Hill looms in the top half of the bracket.
The championship match will take place at 7:30 p.m., Thursday night.
Against Warsaw, setter Ellie Smith finished with 17 assists, Lexie Overton recorded 14 digs, Mindy Hendren finished with seven kills and two blocks, while Liz Cassidy served five aces.
