Lady Knights take fifth at GVVC tourney

The Northeast Vernon County Lady Knights junior high basketball team finished in fifth place at the Golden Valley Vernon County Conference basketball tournament, Thursday night in Hume.

On Tuesday, NEVC fell to Bronaugh 25-9. For Bronaugh, Nicole Hagerman dropped in a game-high eight points, Haley Byram finished with six points, Kaleigh Byram four points, and Braxton Rocco three points. Lydia Longstreth led NEVC with four points, while Kylie Alexander and Judi Webb chipped in with two points apiece. NEVC followed the loss to Bronaugh with a 15-11 Wednesday-night victory over Miami. Longstreth scored a game-high seven points, Madison Dilly six points, and Webb two points.

In the fifth-place game Thursday night, NEVC beat Ballard 30-22. Longstreth poured in 16 points, Dilly added eight, Brianna Hansell four, and Rhianna Bailey, two.
