Vernon County Veterans History Project
JEFFERSON CITY, MO -- Vernon County Historical Society Members, KNEM-KNMO Radio, Neoma Foreman, Representative Patricia Pike, and other interested individuals in Vernon County are working together to honor and pay special tribute to area veterans by preserving their stories. "We will soon be inviting area veterans to participate in updating the current collection of local veteran interviews," said Representative Pike. "The goals are to preserve their oral and written information, and make accessible the personal accounts of local American war service men and service women, so that future generations may hear directly from our veterans and better understand their stories."
Pike noted there will be a "Veterans History Project" information table by the Nevada parade registration table before the parade begins on Nov. 11. After the parade, the information table will be located by the program area to collect names of veterans interested in being interviewed. Also citizens interested in helping with the project may sign up. For more information, contact Will Tollerton through the Vernon County Historical Society at 417-667-9602.
