NRTC DECA visits New York City

Three Nevada Regional Tech Center DECA members recently participated in DECA's New York Experience. DECA's New York Experience Conference gives high school DECA members a "unique opportunity to learn about career fields that are vital in the global marketplace."
At this conference students explore fashion merchandising, tour and learn the history of the Wall Street financial district, hear from tourist attraction marketing experts, and much more.
Students traveling to NYC were Mindy Hendren, Taylor Remington and Isabel Sern.
During their visit, they participated in a fashion merchandising event in the historic Herald Square Macy's Store, toured Madison Square Garden, received a behind the scenes tour of Radio City Music Hall, saw the Radio City Rockettes perform in the Christmas Spectacular, toured Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum following a behind the scenes presentation of their history and operations, visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum and the Empire State Building, took a cruise around Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, along with walking tours of 5th Avenue, Central Park, Chinatown and Little Italy.
The students were accompanied on the trip by Martha Cubbage, NRTC marketing instructor/DECA advisor. DECA's mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
