No injuries in structure fire
No injuries were reported in a structure fire Dec. 24 at 3:52 at 421 E. Hickory.
The Nevada Fire Dept. responded and found a two-story wood frame structure that was approximately 50 percent involved, noted a press release from the NFD.
The fire department initially deployed a hand line to protect the exposures to the west of the residence, due to a small one-car garage that was fully involved.
After the arrival of other units, two more hand lines were deployed for use on the residence, along with the completion of a search of the home.
Once the fire was knocked down, salvage and overhaul was completed on the residence and all units cleared the scene.
The cause of the fire was an unattended brush pile in the backyard, noted the NFD release.
"Damage to the residence was estimated at $20,000 and the exposure to the west suffered $20,000 in damage as well."
