Wildcat boys advance to championship game at Golden City tourney; Sheldon falls
Bronaugh's boys upset No. 1 seed Lockwood in the Golden City Tournament while Sheldon lost Thursday night, falling 63-33.
Bronaugh turned back Lockwood 53-50. The Wildcats held the lead at the end of the first quarter 12-10 in what would be a back and forth game.
By halftime, it was Lockwood on top, at 25-23. But Bronaugh put the clamps on in the third quarter and posted a 15-5 edge for a 35-30 lead.
Both teams warmed up in the fourth, with Bronaugh dropping in 18 points. Lockwood netted 20 but wasn't able to get ahead when it counted.
Tyler Strunk and Justin Hudson provided the 1-2 punch with 26 and 19 points respectively. Gabe McIntire added eight.
Sheldon contest
For Sheldon, the Panthers trailed 16-10 at the first break but fell behind further by intermission, at 34-25 after an 18-15 difference. Liberal doubled up in the third period too, with a 15-7 margin for a 49-32 lead. Sheldon was closer in the fourth, at 14-11.
Zavery Lamb put in 13 points for Sheldon, with Matt Bogart adding eight, Brett O'Connor five, Clayton Lloyd four, and Kaleb Martin three.
