The Nevada Tigers varsity basketball team fell in a 63-57 overtime thriller to the Sherwood Marksmen in the semifinals of the Clinton Basketball Tournament Thursday night. Nevada is 11-5 overall.

The Tigers led early and often, seizing control of the game early as they jumped out to a 13-5 lead, and took a 26-20 lead into the halftime break.

Sherwood began to cut into the lead in the second half, outscoring Nevada 17-12 in the third quarter,. The Tigers led 38-37 entering the fourth quarter.

Sherwood then outscored the Tigers 16-15 in the fourth to force overtime, where they outscored the TIgers 10-4.

"We played great defense in the first half, Tigers head coach Shaun Gray said, "but were not to keep (Sherwood point guard) Jon Miles out of the lane in the second half. We could not contain the dribble."

Miles poured in a game-high 32 points while connecting on 10-of-13 from the charity stripe.

"In the second half, our help defense was not as good as it could have been," Gray said.

Gray added that another thing that hurt his team was that the Tigers top 3-point shooter Myles McNeley was saddled with foul trouble, and was unable to get into a second half rhythm after knocking down two first-half treys.

"We definitely did not shoot as well afrom long-range as we normally do," Gray said. "And we forced too many passes throughout the game."

For Nevada, Gayman posted a monster line, finishing with a team-high 26 points to go along with 20 rebounds and six blocks. McNeley and O'Dell chipped in with nine points apiece, while point guard Matthew Sommer added seven points.
