Suspect arrested in connection with domestic assault

A man is in custody following an investigation by the Bates County Sheriff's Office into a domestic assault.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on High Street in Amsterdam, Mo., Feb. 1 in regards to a woman who was yelling for help. Deputies were unable to locate the woman at that time.
The Deputies were later advised that a woman who had been assaulted in Amsterdam was en route to Bates County Memorial Hospital from Lacygne, Kan. The victim identified a man who she said had assaulted her.
Deputies continued to canvass the area in an attempt to locate the suspect, who was found at a neighbor's residence.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Bates County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour investigative hold for the alleged assault on the female victim.
Deputies made contact with the victim at the hospital.
According to a press release from the Bates County Sheriff's Office, the victim stated that the man started assaulting her around 9:30 that morning. The suspect used a blunt object and struck the victim in the side of her face. He then continued to assault her by punching her in the face with his closed fist.
The release said the abuse continued into the early afternoon hours until the victim was able to flee from the house and get away. The victim sustained several serious injuries from the assault, according to the BCSO.
On Feb. 2, Jeffrey W. Frost, 42, was served with a warrant for three counts of domestic assault in the second degree, which is a Class C felony. The bond amount was set at $50,000 cash only.
At the time of the press release, Frost was in custody at the Bates County Jail.
