Billy Bruce Stroud
Billy Bruce Stroud, 83, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. Billy was born March 24, 1932, in Stockton, Mo., to Bruce William and Dovie A. (Smith) Stroud.
Billy was born in Stockton, Mo., and raised in Stockton, Calif., graduating from high school there. Following high school Billy joined the United States Army where he served in Korea in the Airborn Unit. He retired after 20 years of service. Billy returned to Stockton where he lived and worked for six years before moving to Alabama for a time.
He has resided in Nevada for the past three years. His memberships include the V.F.W. in Buffalo, Mo.
Survivors include two sons, Neal Stroud and his wife, Carol, Milo, Mo., and Bruce Stroud and his wife, Cindy, Stockton, Calif.; one daughter, Janette Clanton and her husband, John, Stockton, Calif.; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Milo Cemetery, in Milo, Mo. Friends may call until 8 p.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada.
